Earlier this month, SUMS closed the mental health survey after receiving over 380 responses from all four years of students. As part of the results, 15% of students reported currently suffering from a mental illness diagnosed by a psychiatrist and 19% have been diagnosed in the past.
On top of that, 51% of students have seen a professional for mental health issues in the past.
What does this mean? Having a mental health issue doesn’t mean you’re more vulnerable or alone, and possessing resilience is only a small part of the solution in a difficult and competitive culture and working environment.
We know there’s much more to change and raising awareness is only the beginning, but we’re proud to present SUMS’ first ever Blue Party. All four years and external guests are invited, with activities, free food on the night, and most importantly, all profits going towards BeyondBlue. Make sure to get tickets soon because capacity is limited!
